In short

What do enterprise telecom networks cover and why is Dattics GPON-certified?

An enterprise telecom network includes structured cabling (Cat 6A/7), optical fiber, managed Wi-Fi, VLAN segmentation, and data center build-out. Dattics is GPON-certified, meaning we can deploy passive optical fiber with reach up to 20 km without intermediate racks — cutting costs by up to 60% vs. traditional copper and with minimal ongoing maintenance.

Why choose GPON?

  • No intermediate racks

Unlike copper cabling that requires a telecommunications rack every 100 meters, GPON carries the signal continuously for up to 20 km from the central OLT with no active equipment in between.

  • Lower installation cost

By eliminating intermediate cabinets, distributed power supplies, and extra active equipment, total infrastructure cost can be reduced by up to 60% compared to conventional copper solutions.

  • Theoretically unlimited speed

Optical fiber has no physical bandwidth limit. GPON currently operates at 2.5 Gbps / 1.25 Gbps and is easily upgradeable to XGS-PON (10 Gbps) or NG-PON2 (40 Gbps) without replacing the cabling.

  • Immune to electromagnetic interference

The optical signal is unaffected by industrial motors, high-voltage equipment, or radio interference — ideal for factories, hospitals, and data centers.

  • Passive network = minimal maintenance

Optical splitters require no electricity or cooling. With no active components in the outside plant, failures are dramatically reduced and the MTBF is practically indefinite.

FAQ

Common questions about networks and GPON

Direct answers for companies modernizing cabling, fiber, or enterprise Wi-Fi.

What is GPON and how does it differ from traditional copper cabling?
GPON (Gigabit Passive Optical Network) is a passive optical fiber technology that carries the signal from a central OLT to ONT terminals without intermediate active equipment. Unlike copper, which requires racks every 100 meters, GPON reaches 20 km and is immune to electromagnetic interference. It cuts installation and maintenance cost by up to 60%.
When is Cat 6A / Cat 7 cabling preferable to fiber?
Cat 6A supports 10 Gbps up to 100 m and is ideal for office floors, workstations, and dense Wi-Fi access points. Cat 7 adds better shielding. When distances exceed 100 m, there is industrial interference, or higher bandwidth is required, we recommend single-mode fiber or GPON. We often combine both: fiber backbone + horizontal copper.
Do you perform cable survey and point certification?
Yes. We use Fluke equipment to certify each Cat 6A/7 point and OTDR for optical fiber. We deliver as-built drawings, physical labeling, patching matrix, and a digital archive with every point's results. Certification is required for the manufacturer warranty (Furukawa, Panduit, Leviton, CommScope).
Can you deploy enterprise Wi-Fi with segmentation and captive portal?
Yes. We work with Ubiquiti UniFi, Cisco Meraki, Aruba, and Fortinet. We deploy separate SSIDs for employees, guests, and IoT — each in its own VLAN with differentiated firewall policies. We include a captive portal with SMS, voucher, or Microsoft 365 SSO authentication.
How do you integrate the network with Microsoft 365 and corporate security?
We configure 802.1X authentication against Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD), NAC to validate device posture (Intune compliant), and VLAN segmentation for employees, BYOD, and servers. The network stops being flat and becomes Zero Trust-ready.
